Severe Weather.
The worst wind storm in recent years occured about the month of October,1929.It began in the morning and continued for a whole day.Many lives were lost in this storm by roofs being blown off houses and ceilings being knocked.Trees falling also caused many deaths.A young girl ,the name of Mills was killed by a fallen tree beside her own house at Milltown,Monaghan.Several deaths also occured by trees falling on cars and other vehicles in this county.In some places whole woods were blown down.Hay and corn were destroyed all over the country.The worst rain flood in any person's memory now living,occured about the harvest of 1932.It rained continually for two days.Roads and houses were flooded all over the country.The bridge known as Connolly's bridge,near Ballinode,was washed away.Another bridge at Drumbenagh on the Tydavnet road was washed away.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
