The Care of the Feet
There was a man named John Mc Philips who never wore boots or shoes the whole year round.
Children don't wear any boots or shoes in the summer in our district.
The water that is used for washing feet is thrown out because it is said to be unlucky to use again.Boots are repaired locally but there are not many boots or shoes made, for there are only two bootmakers in the district-Joe Mc Guire of Scotstown and John Curley of Ballinode.Shoemaking has been a tradition in both these families.Clogs are worn up to the present day by some people in the wintertime.
There was a man named Mick Winters who lived outside of Ballybay. He made clogs of sheep skins.- Bailitheoir
