  1. The local fairs are always held in the town. Business was usually treansacted in the country in olden times but calves are the only thing bought in the country now.
Fairs which were held locally in olden times are now being discontinued. The local fair is held in the street.
Toll is given, on sold cattle and the amounts paid varies according to the description of the beast, calves three-pence and yearlings, two-year-olds and cows sixpence each, threepence out of every pig and two pence out of every bonham. All this money is paid to Maurice J.K. OConnor. Luck money is given when an animal is sold. It is called "luck." It is usually regulated by the price of the animal. Bargains are known to be made when the ticket is marked or by the marking of the beast, or by giving a couple of shillings which is called 'earnest.'
