    To draw the matter out of a sore in your foot mix soap and brown sugar in hot water and apply it as a poultice to the sore. The cure for a colic was to put hot plates to your stomach and to drink whiskey burned in a saucer.
    The cure for a boil was to put a poultice of yellow meal (hot) or to melt soap and sugar together and then put it up to the boil as a poultice.
