It is a custom in Ireland to make a bone-fire on that night.
People sit around the fire and the young people dance and sing around the fire.
They also put a bone into the fire and the people living home a coal from the fire for luck.
Saint Martin's day fall's on the eleventh of November.
It is a custom for all people to kill some fowl on to draw blood and to let the blood go in clots on the floor.
This is done because on that day Saint Martin's head was cut off by a mill. It is said that no man should work a(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
