Cromwell's visit to Ireland did not affect this district very much. The only momento we have of him is a castle and a great area of land. They belonged to Seán Na gCeann. He was very tyrannical on the Catholics and therefore got the lands and castle from Cromwell. It was said that Cromwell and some of his men crossed Annaghkeenty Bog on their journey's through Eire
