  1. 6 At a certain gap in Mullaghsallagh there is supposed to lie a large pot of gold. It is said that an evil spirit guards this valuable treasure. The spirit appears in the form of a cat. A man named Lee went in search of the treasure. He dug for some time but he failed in getting the crock of gold. On another occasion two men were seated on a ditch beside the gap when they saw a leprechaun cobbling shoes there. They took their eyes off him and disappeared. The next three nights in succession they dreamt of the gold but they never looked for it. It is supposed that the treasure was hidden there during the time the danes were in Ireland.
