Maurice went towards him and asked him if he would mend shoes for him, the little fellow refused saying he mended shoes only for his own people who paid him for it. Just then sweet strains of violin music fell on Maurice O'Connell's ears and the little shoe maker vanished.
- An old man by the name of Rahilly was passing the fort after midnight, just as he was in front of the fort he was thrown down. He tried to raise himself but his efforts were in vain after some time he fell into a deep sleep and did not awake until the sun was shining in the morning
