Threats and inducements were used in order to get the occupant to vacate the cottage, but in vain.
He was visited almost daily for a considerable time by Pollock's agent, but he steadfastly refused to give up possession, and Pollock was unable to evict him.
This house was later occupied by Martin Ward. It was his absolute property and he was not liable for rents, rates or taxes. He lived it it up to about twenty years ago when he changed to a new cottage at Creggauns.
He sold the old house to a contractor who used the stones for building purposes, and the old thatched cottage whose occupant defied Pollock and his agent is now only a memory in the district.
