    In olden-times people thought it unlucky to cut a white-thorn bush.
    The people wouldn't believe in cutting a tree around a forth.
    They also said that whatever day May day fell on, Christmas day falls on the same day.
    If you meet a black cat, it is a sign of luck.
    If you were going on a journey and met a drove of sheep, it is a sign you will be welcome to where-ever you are going.
    If twelve days of Christmas be fine, the twelve months of the year will be fine.
    They also thought it not right to give away milk on May day.
    If a person were churning, they said it was not right to leave
