- A blue blaze in the fire is a sign of rain. Other signs of rain are soot falling. A crane going to a bog. White frost. A robin signing in the evening. Tables and chairs creaking. Crows cawing loudly and they in a flock. Shadows of the clouds on a lake. A rainbow early in the morning is a sign of rain. A rainbow in the afternoon usually means showers and storms which will quickly pass. A rainbow in the night is a sign of coming fair weather. Red sky at night or in the morning is a sign of rain. If the sun breaks through the clouds near the horizon in the morning the day will be fine. If it breaks through the clouds high up in the sky the day will be wet.
