    cross in four corners of the kitchen. On Halloween Night boys and girls dive for nuts and apples and money and boys go out stealing gates and hiding them. Every night of Christmas a red candle is placed in the window and on Twelfth Night twelve candles are lit.
    2. "....On St. Brigid's Eve young girls go from house to house gathering money in honour of Saint Brigid. They have one girl dressed in white representing St. Brigid. They sing:
    "Here's Saint Brigid dressed in white,
    Give her something in honour of the night."
    3. ".... On the First of May people wash their face in the dew. This will save them from sunburn, and if some flowers are to a cow's tail that will keep the fairies away and keep them from bringing the milk and butter.

    St. Stephen's Day he got caught in the furze
    They chases him up, they chased him down,
