Palmer ruled this place. He was living in Carrowmore House which is now occupied by the McCormick family. Sir Rodger's ghost was supposed to be seen for a long time after he died. He used to go out every evening riding on a white horse and travel all the place when he was alive and it is on the same white horse his ghost was supposed to have been seen.
The Burkes ruled the other side of the parish, Gallowshill, Carrowcullen and Billoose but they evicted all their tenants on account of not paying the tithes.
The Landlords always sent out strange agents to collect the tithes because they would not give such a "noble" job to a man from the place, or even if a man from the place went out collecting the tithes the people would have a grievance against that man afraid he would be in any way better off than themselves.
