    The fairs long ago were not held in the towns as they are now.
    It is only about forty years ago since the last fair was in Lacken.
    The fair of Rathfran used to be held on the 12th of July and the fair of Lacken that was on the strand was held on the 25th of November.
    There used to be a fair in Moyne and in Newtownwhite each year also and the fairs in those days resembled the horse races nowadays.
    Buyers went from fair to fair just the same as they do now, but there
