  1. (continued from previous page)
But as soon as I entered the Corner
She said I was cutting two slow
I did my endavers to plase her
I being a stranger far away from my home
I saved all her hay from the storm
I thrashed both her wheat and her oats
    When I demanded my wages
And said I was bond for the road.

    (IV)
She said "are you going to forsake me"
And leave me in grief to condole
For the longer with me you're acquainted
The better youll like me also
Your diet will be dressed in rotation
O the best that a house can afford
And she said if youll work for me faithful
I will soon make the farm your own
I told her I never would leave her
Or think that I ne'er shall go home
But to live with her to the end of her days
Her farm Id plough and Id sow.
