There is a story of an elk been found in a pond in Ballyvaden. In the Summer time the pond would dry up and William Meara thought it would be a good plan to clean up the pond and mix the mud with farm yard manure. This is very good to put it out on the garden. When they had about half of it cleaned up they found a very huge bone.
