  1. In June, 1920 the RIC Barracks in which Mr Merrick lived lately was attacked, by the IRA.
    They also attached the Sergeant's house in which Mr. Rogers the bank clerk lives now.
    The attack lasted for two and half hours but the barracks was not captured. There was a breach blown in the wall between the Sergeants house and the barracks by the Republicans. The RIC threw a hand grenade out and wounded three of the Republicans in which a man from Ballycumber named "Martin Fleming" was wounded. He was wounded in the left arm and now can only use the right. The picture house is partly owned by him.
    In the time of the civil war there was a battle at the Mill Corner but no harm was done.
    Tom Fleming told me this; he was in both fights.
