  1. Together oft we strayed beside
    The Anner's crystal stream
And built our castles in the air
On base of 'love's young dream"
    Old Slievenamon has memories
    With those in story told
    When freedom's shout echoed around
    In glorious days of old
When gazing on that storied mount
My heart thrills with the fire
That showed the croppy's eager pike
    And lit the peasant's ire
To deeds of reckless daring when
    "United Boys" march'd on
To guard their homes & maidens fair
    Around old Slievenamon.
Enough" I know that spirit lives
    And flourishes apace
And hardy sons still tread its sides
    Who'd take their fathers' place
    Begone you burning memories
    Let softer scenes come on
