Talking about weasels reminds me of a thing that happened me in Lyonses one day.

Talking about weasels reminds me of a thing that happened me in Lyonses one day. I was trapping rabbits and had set some traps along Barron's ditch when I heard one of them snap behind me. I went back thinking I would find a rabbit in it, but instead there was a weasel caught by the hind leg up near the body. As I approached him he spat at me and hissed at me, but made no cry or screech, good, bad or indifferent, in fait I never heard a screech out of him.
I had no intention of killing him. I meant to release him, but when I went quite near him there suddenly appeared weasels out of nowhere, and they all began to spit and hiss at me. I got afraid and moved away and left him there until he died the day after. There were nearly two dozen weasels about me him, when I went to his rescue. it is not right to interfere with them. They have sense, wait till you hear this:
There was a poor travelling man one day and he sat down on the roadside with his back to the ditch. His feet were sore, and scalded from walking, and he took off his ould brogues and whatever (?) of a stocking he had, to cool his poor feet. He was resting himself that way when out of the bush
