  2. Some Cures.
    If you boil resin, lard and the bark of an elder tree together, the resulting ointment will cure boils. You can store it in a covered glass crock.
    If you have a bad stye on your eye. Put cold tea leaves up to it for nine mornings, and it will be cured.
    If you have got a bad burn, boil together raw potatoes, soap and lard, and the result applied to the burn will cure it.
    If you have a bad cut on your hand, pull a bull rush. Get the white stuff out of it. Put it to the cut and bind it there and it will stop the bleeding and cure the cut.
