  1. In olden times the people of our district had a lot of cures. They would perform a trick called cleas na peiste. If a child had the chincough the cure for it is to walk the child nine times around a white donkey. If you had a sour mouth, the cure for it is to put a gooses beak into your mouth. A dock-leaf is a cure for a sting of a nettle.
