    In Keeling a there are two very old inhabitants Mr and Mrs John O' Leary.

    In Keelings there are two very old inhabitants Mr & Mrs John OLeary. They had a son by the name of Jerome. He took part in the famous ambushes in South Cork, and was mortally wounded at Crossbarry. The following verses were composed in memory of him.
    I
    Fair shone the sun on the Irish Brigade
    As with God's overwhelm we fought.
    Joy filled each heart as Crossbarry was won
    Though dearly that victory was bought
    Foe men lay round me all mingled in fear
    Comrades lay dying and dead
    Among them young Leary the pride of his Corps
    Who's bright eyes grew dim as he said
