When the potatoes are planted, they are earthed and re-earthed. Then they are sprayed. They are then left growing until October. Then they are dug. Some people dig with a spade, and others with a potato digger. All the family helps to pick them.
Golden Wonders are the best eating potatoes. There are others also, namely, "Aran banners", "Champions", "Kerpinks", "Great Scots" and "Aran Chiefs".
There is a way for making starch from potatoes, the raw potatoes are grated into a pan of water. Then the mixture was strained, and the remaining substance was used for starch.
