  1. (continued from previous page)
A silken dress with a belt round the middle,
Can you guess the silly riddle?
    An umbrella.
Where was the first nail hit?
    On the head.
What is the difference between a blind man, and a sailor in prison?
One cannot see to go, and the other cannot go to sea.
I bite, and every bite I bite, but never a bite I swallow.
    A scissors.
As I went into a field of wheat.
I picked up something I could not eat.
It had neither fish, flesh, feather, or bone,
But it had five fingers of its own?
    A glove.
Headed like a thimble, tail like a rat,
You may guess forever, but you can't guess that?
    A pipe.
Two dead men fighting. Two blind men looking on. Two cripples running for the priest, two dummies saying hurry on?
    A Lie.
