in which feet were washed. It should be thrown out before twelve o'clock and at the side of the door, and the person who threw it out said "Aire Duit". If feet-water had been forgotten inside the last who used it would be pulled out of the bed by the fairies and made throw it out. It was supposed that the fairies would not come beyond were the feet-water was thrown.

Bean bocht iseadh mise
Go bhfuil in easbadh 'is an gádhtar géar
Gan eadach clotair
Gan fothain in diaidh aimsidh furar fíán
Tá mo bróga-sa briste
Is gan pingin im' sheilbh
Do chuirfeadh ortha píos na paiste.
