potato. To prevent blight the potatoes are sprayed with bluestone and washing soda and lime twice during the month of July.
In autumn the potatoes are dug with spades or diggers. They are picked from the ground and stored in pits or barns. The pits are something like the roof of a house, the potatoes are pilled together, they are covered with rushes and straw and last of all they are coated with a few inches of clay all over.
