  1. Prayer before lying down ; [?] ask God to protect you during the night;
    " Here I lay me down to sleep
    I give my soul to God to keep
    Christ my Father at my head
    Mother Mary at my feet
    If anything should happen me
    Merciful Jesus have mercy on me."
    "There are four posters to my [?] bed
    Four angels early spread
    St Mathew, St Mark, St Luke, St John,
    God bless the bed I lie on."
    I learned these two old prayers from a man named Dick Clerkin Carson. He was a very kind holy old man. He died at an advanced age in 1938.
