  1. There was an old school in Corravaccan lane it was mud-wall and thatch. The teacher was Mrs Moen. I heard she is living in Monaghan yet.
    The was English and Arithmetic and Grammar and Geography and there was no Irish taught in this old school. They wrote with pencil on a slate. There was no pens or ink at that time.
    There was a blackboard and the teacher wrote on it with a round piece of white chalk as round as an egg. The teachers were paid by the government(s) for the instructions they gave.
