  1. There was a hedge school about Edragiul district also one in Tatty-Gar. The children had to bring turf with them for the fire. The teachers were very badly paid they had no pens or pencils or ink in those days the writing was done with a thing called a "style" on wax tablets. The school was a little thatched house with an earth floor. The teachers did not remain long in these schools there were not many books in those days.
