  1. Local Heroes
    In this country about one hundred years ago, there lived a man. His name was John Sreenan and he lived about one mile from my home.
    He could walk one hundred miles at his ease and he carried a grinding stone which weighed thirty pounds from Carnmore mountains about a distance of twenty eight miles.
    The grinding stone is still at the place where he lived in the parish of Ematris. Several time he carried a calf on his back from Monaghan town to his own home about a distance of eight miles.
