- On January the sixteenth eighteen thirty nine, almost one hundred years ago there was a terrible storm in this district. It took the roof of houses and blew up hundreds of trees it was called the big wind. It happened in the month of January and many people were left homeless.About seventeen years ago there was a great thunder storm the lightening killed lots of cattle and sheep it split the trees open. There have never been great around this locality but lots of hay in low lying lands has been lost.About forty years ago(continues on next page)
