    Some people would not give a clutch of eggs without getting a luck-penny. If they did they give away their luck with their own fowl.
    Some people would not pass under a ladder, lest their growth would stop.
    Many people would not pay out money on Monday, of it they did, they would be paying out for the week.
    People sometimes buy clothes and give them to the poor for their dead relatives, in case they would be shabby in the next World.
    Some people never lock the door, for if they did, everything would be smashed.
    Some people never kindle the fire but leave a bright fire on, when retiring. Many people leave bread and milk on the table before going to bed.
