    A great sign of good weather is the double cry of the curlew and a bad sign of the weather is the single cry of the curlew.

    It is a good sign of the weather to see the smoke going up straight from the chimney, while it is a bad sign of the weather to see the wind blowing it sideways.
    It is a very bad of the weather to see the soot falling or to see the floor and salt getting wet in a house.
    It is also a bad sign of the weather to see ring all round the moon.
    It is a very bad sign of the weather to see the mountains looking nigh.
