- Long ago the cure for Consumption was to boil three snails in a glass of new milk. Then the snails were taken out of the milk and the milk was drunk by the person who was suffering from the disease. If a person had chill blains the sure was to into a neighbour's house and take off his shoes and rub his feet to the hearth stone. The old cure for toothache was to boil 3 potatoes. Then put 3 potatoes in a stocking and tie the stocking round your neck.
Long ago it was said that it was a very good cure for a sore throat to fill a stocking with salt and tie it round their neck. If a person had a sore on his hand it was a very good cure to wash it in salt.(continues on next page)- Collector
