The rock is in Lang's field and the people would go to a quiet place like that to hear Mass.
At the caves in the townland of Rockbrook there is another Mass rock at which a priest used to say Mass. The rock, when struck by a piece of stick or stone makes a sound like a bell. As they had no bell they used the rock for one. It is still to be seen and it still retains its musical sound. In those times people were glad to go a few miles to hear Mass.
