Amongst the villages wiped out in this locality were Cuilnacappy, Park, Moneenrue, Gortnalavey, Creggauns, Ballymackeague, Rabbit Park and Lenareevagh.
The Pollocks owned another estate at Lismany near Ballinasloe and between both places 1300 families were evicted.
Most of those who were evicted emigrated to America but a small number settled down in adjoining districts, and many descendants of the evicted tenants have since returned and settled down on the land of their forefathers.
Pollock built large farm yards at Glinsk, Moate, Skehard, Milford and Moneenrue. Most of these have now disappeared, and the cattle ranchs which surrounded them have been divided amongst the people.
