    The Burkes of Marblehill
fort. When the cat would smell the meat he would come out. He told him to go into the fort and roll out a barrel of gold and to go in again and roll out another but not to go in the third time because the cat would kill him.
The man did as he was advised but he was not satisfied with two barrels and he went in the third time. The cat caught him and killed him.
It is said that the Burkes' forefathers were car men. They were drawing stones from a place near Grallagh one day. They saw the two barrels of gold in the rushes and they brought them with them. Then they built houses and planted big woods. It is said they built Marblehill big house that time also.
