  1. The townland in which I live is Brogue. There are eight families in it and about forty tow people. Dervan is the most common name. There are three houses thatched and five slated.
The townland has the shape of a shoe and then it is called Brogue.
There are three old people in it, two men and two women. They do not tell any stories. They are all over seventy years of age. Their names are Patrick Dervan, Brogue, Kylebrack, Loughrea, Mrs. Dervan, Brogue, Kylebrack, Loughrea, Katherine Comar, Brogue, Kylebrack, Loughrea.
They do no know any Irish.
There were more houses in this townland fifty years ago than there are now.
A family of Banfields left this townland and went to America about fifty years ago. A family of Howes left it and went to America a few years after the Banfields emigrated.
The land is dry and cold in the townland and it has only one spring well.
The ruins of an old house are to be seen in the village. It belonged to John Larkin.
