    During the "seraft" any one that was looking for a man, there was "Plaquens" selling for girls, and they cost about ten shillings. It was a piece of blue silk cloth thrown over their hair and a yellow bow at the neck. Every fair during the "seraft" they would go to be seen, so that any man that was on the look out, could choose any woman that he would see with a "Plaquen" and that's the way the most women got their men in days gone by.
