The women of long ago used to dress very simply. The up-to-date people used to wear blue cloaks of very good stuff, which lasted them centuries. A pair of shoes would stand them three or four years. In olden times there used to be two fairs held on Lacken Strand opposite the chapel, one on the 12th July, and the other on the 24th of November.
