- In olden times, the people who wanted to get clothes made always sent for the tailor and brought him to their houses for a week or whatever length it took him to make the clothes for them, I suppose that would depend on the amount of clothes they wanted to get made.
At that time there lived in Lacken[?] a woman and her husband. Now, Mrs Washe as her name was, had a fine baby boy and when the child was about six months old he began to get very thin and became very contrary. So much so, that the poor mother was worn out trying everything she could possibly do, to satisfy her child, and all in vain. He was continually crying.
At this time the woman had a tailor in the house, and so she managed one evening to get him (the child) to sleep, as she thought and told the tailor to keep an eye on him while she went to the well. The well was only a short distance behind the house(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
