- Shrove is the most popular time for the celebration of marriage though they take place frequently all the year round with the exception of Lent. Wednesday is believed to be the luckiest wedding day: an old saying is, - "Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all. Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses, and Saturday the worst day of all."
