  1. A hundred years ago four men were in a field in Knockhowlin looking at cattle when they noticed a big stone. They came over to it, examined it carefully, and saw some writing on it. This writing was covered with moss and lichen. They scraped them off and after a long time made out the writing. It read as follows - "Turn me up and see what's under me." The men came to the conclusion that there was some treasure or other under it.
    They laboured hard for two days with picks and spades trying to unearth the enormous stone. They turned it out of the ground and with bright eyes began searching for the buried
