- 1. A cure for warts is to cut the top off a turnip and scoop a hole in the centre. Then, fill the hole with salt. When the salt goes to water a drop of it should be put on the wart for nine mornings. After this the wart disappears.
2. Pains are cured by marshmallows. The marshmallows are boiled and mixed with lard.
3. An old cure for a scald is to get a handful of fresh lime, and put it in a bowl of water. This is left there for twenty-four hours. A kind of frost comes on top of the water after this time. This frost mixed with sweet-oil and applied to the scald cures it.
4. Butter and brown sugar is good for a cough.
