    Bonty was eaten on November night. Pan Cakes were made for pancake night Shrove Tuesday. Eggs were eaten at Easter. The first goose was killed for the feast of St. Martin 11th Nov.
    Bonfires were lighted on hills for the feast of St. John 24th June.
    Tea was first used in this district about sixty years ago. At first it was thought the leaves were to be eaten and the water strained away. It was supposed afterwards to be boiled. It was drunk at Xmas only in the beginning. Pewter vessels were used before cups.
