  1. There is a cave under the hill of Spline, a quarter of a mile northwards from Rashina N.S. There is said to be a crock of gold in it. A witch sits guarding it all the time. The opening of the cave is covered over now, and hardly anyone knows where it is, though they are able to locate where it should be, from accounts which they heard. A sheep, owned by a man named Egan, who grazed the land at one time, strayed into the cave and never came out. He had the opening covered up then, and it has remained so since. People often tried to find it of late but were not successful.
