  1. You should not burn a briar if you have milking cows. If you did they would give blood instead of milk.
    It is not counted right to drive swallows out of a stable. The cow's milk would turn to blood.
    It is not right for a man to bring out fire on his pipe, when a churning is going on, it would keep the milk from churning.
    It is not lucky to take a setting of eggs offered freely. Something, no matter how little, should be given for them.
    It is not good to pay money on Monday. You will be giving out money all the week.
    If you pay money on Hansel Monday you will be paying every day in the year.
    When milk would not churn it was thought the "Dead Hand" used to take away the butter. Then one woman in the townland would have all the butter.
