- Stye in eye.
In the townland of Kilantubber, in the parish of Milane and Ballinahown, in the Barony of Garrycastle, and in the County Offaly. There is a well called Saint Monaghan's well. If a person was suffering from a stye in the eye and if that person bathed his or her eyes with the water nine mornings in succession it would cure the stye.
Chillblains.
If a person suffering from chillblains rubs his or her feet on the hearth last at night the first to get up in the morning will have the chillblains.
Toothache.
Toothache can be cured by drinking the water out of St. Monaghan's well in Kilantubber.
Warts.
The water out of the holy-water-font in St. Monaghan's Church Leamonaghan cures warts.
Whoopting cough.
Two persons of the same name married can cure whooping cough. Stale wheaten bread is given to child suffering from whooping cough. If the child is not able to eat the bread, it is boiled with milk and the milk is given to the child.(continues on next page)
