  1. In the townland of Castlereagh, parish of Milane and Ballinahown, Co. Offaly there is a treasure. The Irish army was retreating, pursued by the English, and fearing to lose the treasure it carried, it was decided to bury it. It is believed to be in the ground now, beside the old road. A soldier was put on guard over it and he promised to watch dead or alive. He was then shot there. His spirit still hovers near the place
