They open the door before they go to bed to let the New Year in.
The people on Saint Brigids day gather rushes and make crosses, and hang them up in their houses. On shrove Tuesday the people send their children to other houses for what is called the pancake seive.(sic) When the person see the children coming they rub their hands on the kettle, when the children ask for the seive they rub their hands on their faces and tell them that they have not it.
It is the custom for a prossesion to be held in the church on Holy Thursday and Good Friday. It is the custom also to make "hot-cross-buns".
These buns are made out of flour, yeast and currants. They eat these at tea time. It is the custom for the people to get up early on Easter Sunday morning to see the sun dancing, in honour of Our Lord. They also boil eggs and eat them.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
